Dental and Mini Implants

A strong and safe solution
Dental implants offer patients a stronger and more permanent way of replacing missing teeth than gum-supported bridges or dentures. Made of titanium, dental implants offer a strong, safe solution to our patients with missing teeth. Because titanium dental implants are anchored in the jaw-bone, they provide the strong structure to support tooth-replacement restorations. There are several different types of dental implants. During your consultation, we will discuss the best choice for your individual case.

In detail:
Placing dental implants typically involves three steps: implantation, osseo integration (while the jawbone heals), and attachment of restorations such as a crown, bridge, or denture. During the first step, a titanium anchor will be surgically placed into your jawbone to provide the best support. Although we do not actually place dental implants, we will design your restorations and refer you to a qualified oral surgeon in the area.

For the next several months after implant placement, osseo integration will ensure that bone cells in the jaw heal around the implant structure. After your implant has healed, a restoration may be attached during an appointment at our office. Additionally, we can make your treatment more comfortable or relaxing using sedation dentistry. If you are looking for a solution to missing teeth that provides strength, support, and long-term results, then dental implants may be the appropriate option. Dr. Patel also offers ‘Mini Dental Implants’.

Mini Dental Implants (MDI) consist of a miniature titanium implant that acts like the root of your tooth and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the base of your denture, The head of the implant is shaped like a ball and the retaining fixture acts like a socket that contains a rubber O-ring. The O-ring snaps over the ball when the denture is seated and holds the denture at a predetermined level of force. When seated, the denture gently rests on the gum tissue. The implant fixtures allow for micro-mobility while withstanding natural lifting forces. The most effective use of this unique dental product is stabilization of a lower denture. There are approximately 50,000,000 people in the United States who are "edentulous" (literally meaning lacking teeth) who struggle daily with prosthetic devices. A majority suffer a great deal of discomfort as a result of lose or ill-fitting dentures. Denture patients all over the world have experienced relief from lose or ill-fitting dentures from doctors who are trained to place the MDI. Uniquely, the MDI can be utilized to stabilize a denture in a couple of hours by a trained doctor, with the patient leaving the clinic with a stabilized prosthesis..
